Our Story
It started with a family inviting their neighbours
Crosspoint Baptist Church started on July 1, 2012. Pastor Mike Barr and his family began inviting people from the community to attend, and it has been exciting to see how the Lord has worked over these years. People of all ages have come to know Christ as Savior and have followed the Lord in baptism.
Our goal is to point people to Jesus Christ and to glorify Him in all things. We sing great hymns of the faith and conservative choruses, and we use the King James Version. We reach out to our community through soul winning and outreach opportunities, and we globally support seven missionaries.
Our congregation spans different ages and races — and the family spirit here is not something we manufactured. It’s just what happens when people love the same Lord.

What you can expect to find here
The King James Bible
We preach and teach from the King James Version, and we believe every word of it. The Bible is the authority for what we believe and how we live.
Great Hymns & Conservative Music
We sing the great hymns of the faith alongside conservative choruses — music that lifts up Christ rather than drawing attention to itself.
A Real Family Spirit
People of every age and background sit side by side here. Visitors tell us the family spirit is the first thing they notice.
Reaching Our Community
We go out into Iowa City through soul winning, Gospel Blitz and visitation outreach — and we support seven missionaries around the world.
Our Pastor
Pastor Mike Barr
with his wife, Stacy
Pastor Mike Barr and his family started Crosspoint Baptist Church in the summer of 2012. Mike received his undergraduate degree from Pensacola Christian College and his master’s degree from West Coast Baptist College. Prior to pastoring Crosspoint, Pastor Mike served as a youth pastor for 16 years.
He has a passion for preaching the Word of God, a love for people, and a desire to help others live for the glory of God. He also enjoys football, basketball, fishing, and watching war movies.
He and his wife, Stacy, have two married children, two grandchildren, and one son who is a teenager.
